On one hand, this scent is velvety, powdery, and sweetish, on the other it’s delicately sour and aromatic, so it can come off as fresh. Overall the composition is similar to Prada L’Homme L’Eau - Prada probably took inspiration, but couldn’t equal the original, which is subtler and unmatched in its casual charm and elegance.
The relative lightness extends to performance unfortunately, but Original is still the best from the Homme line, in my opinion, and the first I would recommend trying. The second would be Parfum, which is essentially a stronger and heavier version of Original, and the third would be Intense. The reason I’m not too keen on Intense is that it’s decisively a cold weather perfume, very thick, woody and chocolatey. The other two are more versatile.
While Homme Original is very good, I wouldn’t pick it as the one fragrance to take to a desert island. Iris is a peculiar note and for daily usage I’d prefer something easier to wear.
There seems to be some confusion about this fragrance, specifically whether there are two different versions of it. Fragrantica calls this Dior Homme and insists that Dior Homme Original is a newer and different version released in 2021. Parfumo only lists Dior Homme Original (2011) and says there’s been merely a rebrand of the original perfume. I suspect the two versions are more or less the same and the Fragrantica notes for Original are wrong, though I am in no position to tell conclusively. This review refers to the original ;) 2011 version with cocoa.
